After long-serving Brian Quinnell called time on his role as groundsman, the club have appointed ex-Fratton Park operative James Askew to continue the excellent work the former has done to ensure the playing surface continues to be revered throughout non-league football.

To coincide with officially welcoming Askew as the new head groundsman, the Rocks have announced a major pitch renovation plan for not only the main pitch at Nyewood Lane but also the training pitch as well as the football pitches at the adjoining Bognor Sports Club which are used by many of the 33 youth teams who play under the club's umbrella.

Bognor general manager Simon Cook explained: "We carry out a major reseeding and renovation programme every summer on our pitches but the additional preparation time that the lockdown has provided this year has been very beneficial, allowing us to begin work much earlier.

"In addition, a significant 'grass pitch enhancement' grant from the Football Foundation has been awarded to the club and this has enabled us to carry out significantly more work than would have perhaps been possible in normal years.

"We are extremely grateful for the financial assistance provided by the Football Foundation which helps provide quality grass pitches for all of our teams -- not just the first team."
