Roffey started this game as the previous two in a fantastic way. After only two minutes Ben Bissett opened up the defence with a superb pass and Damon Aston took it very confidently around the keeper to score.

Only four minutes later Paul White sent Aston away again with another quality pass and this time he slipped it past the keeper as he came out.

The home side then changed their tactics and played more direct football and on nine minutes Bishop reacted quickest to pull one back.

The second half was little better with Roffey trying to play controlled football while the defence stayed strong, Duncan Hirschfield dominating on his full debut. Roffey scored a third on 75 minutes when Michael Spence was brought down in the box and Bissett slotted home the penalty.

Roffey created further chances but three minutes from time Bishop scored again for the hosts.

Manager Julian Miller said: “The performance was not fantastic but the attitude of the players was very pleasing as we had to battle for everything against a very direct and physical side and deserved the three points.”

Roffey: Jeal, Hayes (Swaine 75) Hannigan, Hirschfield, Simester, White (Nicholson 83, Phelon, Spence, Bissett, Pearson (White 65) Aston.
