Sussex demolish Somerset at Horsham to go top

Sussex went top of the LV=County Championship with a commanding innings and 122-run victory over an out of sorts Somerset inside two days at Horsham.

Star performer was Aussie fast bowler Steve Magoffin with record figures of 12-31 for the match as he followed his eight-wicket haul on the first day with four on the second day to dismantle a fragile visiting batting order.

Jimmy Anyon took second innings figures of 3-25 and Chris Jordan 2-36 as Somerset never threatened to come close to the Sussex first innings total of 300.

The large crowds down at Horsham remained largely dry and were treated to 30 wickets in only four and a half sessions and a Sussex victory for 22 points which puts them top, if only temporarily.
