Butrgess Hill Runners at the Lewes 10k

Monday saw the fifth round of the West Sussex Fun Run League, the Lewes 10k. Starting and finishing with a lap of the track at the leisure centre, the rest of the route has a mix of terrain and a few small hills to keep things interesting.

Fresh from multiple recent successes in various longer distance events and a ‘feelgood factor’ that has extended way beyond those that took part in those, the club sent over 50 runners out of a total field of 675 to the event.

The provisional results show Darryl Webb led the contingent home in 38 mins 10 secs for an excellent 8th place in a high quality field, followed by an injured Paul Sargent (42.03), James Sorbie (45.15), Andy Sayers (46.35) and Trevor Symes (46.45).

The BHR ladies were headed by Cath Beckett (51.49), Emma Buckland (52.02), Susan Lyle (53.06), Liz Carter (54.30) and Emma Fernandez (57.47). The club has now embarked on its ever-expanding series of Friday evening summer ‘pub runs’ which are very social and run at a very relaxed pace and are an ideal way for new members to meet existing runners – full details are on the club website www.bhrunners.co.uk
