In unseasonably hot conditions that made the race hard work for many, Neil Grigg ran superbly to lead the club home in 51st place overall in an excellent 1hr 28 mins, closely followed by Mark Nicholls (1.31.04), Jon Boxall (1.33.11) and Joe Carey (1.37.51). Sharona Harrington was first BHR lady to finish in 1.45.43, backed up by Jan Lavis (1.47.12), Emma Buckland (1.54.34) and Liz Carter (1.54.35). The full list of BHR finishers is below. Much further afield, Jenny Nicoll flew the flag for BHR in Korea, completing in the DMZ International Peace half Marathon and was delighted with the 3kg bag of rice given to all race entrants ! On Saturday night, Helen Pratt completed the Shine Night Walk, a marathon distance walk around London for Cancer Research.

Away from racing the club is delighted to have learned that Burgess Hill Runners junior academy won the Best Sports Provider award in the Kallikids 2014 awards voted for by parents, coming first out of over 300 other providers, and were also awarded 2nd place for best school age provider.

Academy Coach Bryony Monnery said ‘I knew we were finalists but never expected to win. What an amazing club Burgess Hill Runners are from coaches, volunteers to its members. Look out club mark here we come with our juniors section! Well done all those involved including those who support the work the junior academy are doing’.
