Bognor swimmers make a splash (of paint)

Bognor Swimming Club have unveiled their new mural at The Arena Sports Centre’s pool, painted to mark their 50th anniversary.

Tom Rogers of The Artful Rogers was commissioned to paint the mural at the beginning of the year and the fantastic, colourful work of art now stands proudly in the foyer.

Sarah Boote-Cook, who chairs BRSC, said: “It’s amazing! Tom has done a fabulous job, he is a very talented artist. This mural is here for everyone to enjoy and definitely shows the partnership between The Arena and the swimming club.”

Meanwhile the annual district scouts’ swimming gala was held at Arun Leisure Centre. The event saw around 100 scouts, cubs and beavers take to the water was hosted by Bognor Swimming Club and funded by Rotary Hotham.

It was the second gala of its kind held locally and competition was fierce.

Following a series of individual events and team relays, the 1st South Bersted Air Scouts were victorious by a huge 25 points.

Every swimmer showed great sportsmanship and a fabulous evening was had by all.

The president of Rotary Hotham, Nigel Wood, presented the cup, and every swimmer was awarded a medal. The event will return in 2016.
