Bognor swimmers make a splash along the coast

Bognor Swimming Club took 15 swimmers to the Littlehampton Splash open meet at the Arun Leisure Centre.

All swam very well with every swimmer achieving at least one personal best.

Rosie Freeman, William Stevens, Grace Trodd and Kaitlin Hickmore, all competing in their first open meet, swam some excellent times.

Club captain Imogen Ede put in a good performance with three PBs including a seven-second improvement on the 200m individual medley (IM) and a well-earned fourth place.

Grace Womersley, Daisy Donoghue and Aimee Cowell gave their best performances in the 50m breaststroke, while Alys Turner and Amber Macrae swam excellent 200m IMs, swimming nine and seven-second PBs respectively.

Gold medals went to Katie White (50m freestyle, butterfly and backstroke), Abbie Turner (50m backstroke and 50m freestyle), Tom Hogg (200m IM) and Owen Cullen (200m IM).

Silvers were scooped by Tom Hogg (50m freestyle, 50m butterfly), Katie White (200m IM, 200m freestyle), Abbie Turner (50m freestyle 50m breaststroke).

Bronze medals went to Nathan Cowell (50m breaststroke) and Abbie Turner (50m butterfly).

Tom Hogg achieved a county qualifying time in the 50m freestyle which will allow him to compete in this event at the county championships in February.
