LETTER: Public have right to be heard

During a ‘live Facebook chat’ on 8 October 2013 councillor Vickers said in answer to the question as to why she was refusing to hold a public meeting: ‘I have found that constructive debates that I’ve been holding with smaller groups of people have been more beneficial than having a large scale public meeting, which is invariably dominated by those with the loudest voices’.

I am pleased that she has changed her mind and look forward to the public meeting in February so that she can listen to all of the public. Whether the public have a loud voice or not, the public have a right to be heard and her volte-face is long overdue.
