Letter: Diversion plans are ‘madness’

The plans for the diversion are madness, it takes all of the eastbound traffic past the main entrance to Sainsbury’s, the Station, down Sydney Road, the back entrance to Oathall School and back into the town via Hazelgrove Road past another school.

These roads are already very busy in their own right, it can not be justified when the bypass is so close to opening.

Why can’t it wait?

Why can’t the 18 weeks of roadworks commence until after the bypass has been built? Surely the water main can be kept maintained in the meantime and the useless notion of a one way system won’t have to be implemented.
