Worthing choir receives accolade after performances

CHOIR JuSSt Voices was named one of the choir’s of the day at an audition for Choir of the Year on Sunday.

The event, held inside a church in St John’s Smith Square, London, is dubbed the UK’s biggest amateur choir competition.

Jan Spooner-Swabey, the choir’s musical director, said: “We all had a great day and the girls in the choir excelled themselves.

An added bonus was that other choirs and their conductors from all sections all came up to us and said we had deserved the accolade of Choir of the Day, which is possibly worth even more.”

The choir now has to wait to find out if it is selected to participate in the section finals which will be held in London on October 19. Four section winners and two wild cards will then be chosen to progress to the grand final, held in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on December 7.
