The group was started by Adrian Norton and Roger Deller and now meets fortnightly at The Ferry Inn, in East Street.

Simon Thorpe, one of the members, explained: “The role of the group was to offer mutual help and support for local writers with an aim to have some material published.

“The book will only cost £1.02, to include VAT. It is the group’s first attempt at having anything published and all proceeds will be donated to the Help For Heroes charity.”

Simon was one of six writers to contributed to the anthology, along with Roger Deller, Barbara Meredith, Miller Phoenix, Tony Roberts and Geoff Tabrah.

The small writing group also includes Adrian Norton and Trevor Harvey, who were part of the editorial team for the anthology.

Mr Deller said: “We were looking for a topic to write that would be meaningful to our writers and readers. As it is the centenary of World War One, it would be something that everyone would relate to.”
