But the fourth time, on Saturday, was the most important is it took almost the entire length away, to be donated to Little Princess Trust.

Chloe-Ella Tester, of Wick Street, has been growing her hair to be as long as possible since she decided to donate it for real-hair wigs for children with cancer. She succeeded in donating hair measuring 22in in length.

She succeeded in getting it to the top of her thighs but said the weight of it was starting to hurt her head.

“My nan was in hospital with cancer and she was losing all her hair, so I wanted to have my hair cut too,” explained Chloe-Ella.

Her nan died in St Barnabas House hospice in 2010.

Speaking before the cut, Chloe-Ella said: “My mum likes my hair long but I am looking forward to having it cut. I know someone who had it done and they said it was so much lighter on their head afterwards.

“As soon as I get it cut, I am going to have it done in a bow. I have been telling everyone about it because I am so excited.”

She has raised money through www.justgiving.com/Chloehaircutforcharity and been sponsored by fellow pupils at River Beach Primary School in Littlehampton, making a total of £1,075 for Little Princess Trust.

Chloe-Ella said the money should pay for at least three wigs to be made.

“I want it to be a regular thing I do, so when it grows again, I want to get it cut off for the charity again,” she added.
