The most popular topic amongst the group is the study of local towns and villages. There are eight groups which represents almost a quarter of the 950 membership of the Horsham Branch.

Each group meets monthly to visit an interesting town or village where local people will give them the ‘lowdown ‘ on its history.

Mr Clarke said: “I was surprised at the very broad range of topics on offer and the dedication of those who give up their time to run the various study groups.”

The open day concluded with a well- supported raffle.
