Vehicles taken and Scout troubles

POLICE are appealing for help after the Scout hut was broken into in Balcombe and property damaged.

The building was entered after its rear doors were forced sometime between 2pm last Tuesday (August 28) and 6pm on Friday (August 31).

A number of badges were stolen and then set on fire in the barbecue area. The fire extinguisher was also removed and abandoned in nearby hedges and an electric lantern was taken.

n Also, police are appealing for information to try to trace two vehicles that were stolen from Cuckfield and nearby Whitemans Green.

Between Friday evening (August 31) and Saturday morning (September 1) a white Mitsubishi Shogun, registration D738 YMX, was taken from Hanlye Lane, Cuckfield, while in Whitemans Green, an Ifor Williams trailer was taken as well as an orange Kubota ride-on mower that it was carrying. Police say the thefts could be linked.
