UPDATE: Woman cyclist, 50, suffers ‘serious’ injuries in Chichester collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Chichester.

Emergency services were at the scene of the accident outside Chichester Police Station this morning and a 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital with ‘serious neck and arm injuries’.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A female cyclist was taken to hospital with serious neck and arm injuries after being involved in a collision with a car in Chichester on Friday (December 11).

“Emergency services were called to the scene in Basin Road at 8.14am where the 50-year-old woman from Chichester had been in collision with a Peugeot.

“She was released from under the car and treated by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital in Southampton.

“The road was closed while rescue and recovery work took place and re-opened shortly after 12 noon.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Poole.
