UPDATE: Police investigating '˜suspicious' fire at Horsham medical centre

Police are investigating a '˜suspicious' fire at a Horsham medical centre.

Staff and residents were evacuated from The Martyn Long Centre, in Crawley Road, on Sunday (May 8) after a blaze broke out at around 5.40pm.

Emergency services attended and extinguished the fire which was started in a ground floor bedroom, the fire service said.

Police said a 29-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. The room was also damaged by smoke.

Police said the centre is a mental health facility for adults with mental health issues.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The fire is being treated as suspicious. An investigation is ongoing.
