Update: Man arrested following Three Bridges car fire

A car which was destroyed by fire in Three Bridges last night (April 17) was set alight deliberately, firefighters say.

Fire crews in breathing apparatus dealt with the blaze.

A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service representative said: “We got called at 8.30pm.

“It was one private car destroyed by fire.”

Firefighters were at the scene from 8.36pm to 9.16pm.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “At about 8.30pm on Sunday (17 April), police were called to a report of a car fire in Forge Road, Crawley.

“A silver Vauxhall Tigra sustained extensive damage and the incident is being treated as suspected deliberate ignition.

“A 40-year-old man from Crawley was arrested in connection with the incident and currently remains in custody.

“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 1273 of 17/04.”
