Man dies in Chichester collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on Madgwick Lane in Westhampnett near Chichester yesterday (Sunday August 12).

A motorbike collided with a Mazda at 9.40am near the junction with Claypit Lane.

The rider of the motorbike, a 27-year-old man from Hampshire, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 65-year-old woman from Chichester, was uninjured.

PC Stuart Watson from the Road Policing Investigation team said: “The road was closed for more than six hours while officers attended and we would like to thank drivers for their patience. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased man at this time.

“We are asking anyone who saw what happened or saw either vehicle prior to the collision to please come forward and contact police on 101 quoting Op Linton.”
