Fire in village car park

Firefighters were called to a car park in Thakeham after a small blaze broke out this afternoon (Tuesday November 29).

A fire engine and a fire service 4x4 vehicle attended the small fire in a car park off Cray’s Lane, near Thakeham Halt.

A spokesman for the fire service said a large pile of leaves was well alight when crews arrived just before 3pm.

It was extinguished using an ultra high pressure hose reel on the back of the 4x4. No injuries were reported.
