Fallen trees block rail lines

FALLEN trees, blown down by the strong winds and heavy rain this morning (Tuesday), have caused problems for railway travellers.

Trees have fallen across tracks between Horsham and Barnham in both directions (now open but subject to delays); between Haywards Heath and Lewes via Plumpton in both directions; and between Barnham and Chichester (Westbound only).

Southern say train services due to operate on these routes may be delayed, diverted or cancelled at short notice.

Delays up to 50 minutes can be expected.
