Air ambulance service hosting free open evening

The Sussex Air Ambulance is hosting a free open evening in Wrotham, Kent next Thursday (November 14).

The regional charity’s chair, chief executive and clinical leads will talk about service development, patient outcomes and operating at night.

Dr Malcolm Russell, Medical Director for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, said: “With medicine and technology always developing rapidly, our charity has kept right at the forefront and this year has been particularly exciting.

“Come along and hear how we’ve brought blood transfusion to the roadside and transformed into a 24-hour operation in order to reach even more sick and injured patients in our community.”

Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet some of the pilots, doctors and critical care paramedics from the Air Ambulance.

The service’s specialist medical teams respond to an average of six calls per day.

They administer advanced pre-hospital care directly to seriously ill and injured patients.

The event will be held at the Holiday Inn, Wrotham at 7pm.
