Work has begun this week to replace speed cushions in Worth Road in Crawley.
The remedial work starts today (Monday, September 3) and will take five days to complete.
During day time hours, traffic will be controlled by ‘Stop & Go’ signs.
West Sussex County Council has found that the cushions are deteriorating due to defective materials used during the manufacturing process.
Although the current condition of the speed cushions is in no way hazardous to highway users, it has been decided that the cushions will be removed and replaced now before any major defects occur.
The county council’s supplier has agreed to replace the speed cushions free of charge.
The county council has apologised for any inconvenience and asks for patience and understanding while these essential remedial works are completed.
