An amazing 828 bags of good quality clothes, homewares, books, DVD’s and CD’s were donated by Swan Walk Shopping Centre customers during the 2013 Cancer Research UK Donation Station held in the centre from May 16 to 27.

In just 12 days, the Donation Station raised a grand total of £28,980.

“This continues to be a key element of our community engagement strategy and is also the ultimate way to recycle,” said Gill Buchanan, centre manager. “This year we had hoped to match the great result in 2012 but although 100 fewer bags were donated, the quality of donations and Gift Aid declarations that were provided in each bag has led to a staggering 44.5% increase in the value to Cancer Research UK.

“The event is truly local and we work with the local Cancer Research UK Horsham store manager,” she continued. “All the proceeds are used to stock the Horsham store. I believe that this has led to the growing support for what had become an annual event for the whole town.”
