Stunning display at Worthing summer show

Worthing Horticultural Society was delighted with the number of entries in its summer show on Saturday.

Despite the torrential rain of the previous few days, the colour in the main hall was spectacular, with beautiful sweet peas and roses on display.

There were also many lovely potted plants, delightful vases of mixed flowers and splendid flower arrangements.

Alasdair MacCulloch almost swept the board, winning the best sweet pea exhibit, most prize money in both the sweet pea classes and in the rose classes, best golden rose, the highest amount of prize money in the show and best exhibit in the show.

Janice Shambrook won best hanging basket and most points in the fruit and vegetable classes.

Linda Charman won best pot plant and best vase of mixed flowers.

Christine Shane won best vase of roses, Kathleen Lester won best floral exhibit, Jenny Leach won the judge’s choice in the floral classes, Sue Riachardson won the most points in the cookery classes, Jolyon McKail won the children’s class for cookery and Jacob Clear won the best collage and a basket of flowers in the children’s classes.
