A degree student from Northbrook MET Textile Design has been offered a place to study at the Royal College of Art.
Catherine Coombs impressed the interview panel at the prestigious art college, which has been named the world’s number one art and design postgraduate university. She will now go on to study towards a Master of Arts in Textiles (Mixed Media).
Catherine said: “Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would ever happen! From a free community art class in St Stephen’s Church Hall in East Worthing (thank you Creative Futures and Worthing Homes), the seed was recognised and then planted at Northbrook MET. Over the last three years its roots have been watered, sheltered, fed and when needed pruned, by the inspirational, wonderful tutors, technicians, admin and learning support at Northbrook. Now to be transplanted to the Royal College of Art - it’s amazing”.
Catherine, along with other Northbrook MET Art, Design and Media degree students, is currently preparing for final year exhibitions at the college and at New Designers in London.
