Elizabeth Mailey, 52, Jonathan, 48 and Edward Rowland, 16, will be joined by 17 others from Sussex, Kent and Buckinghamshire on Sunday August 31 as they pedal their way around the streets of London for the charity which is close to their hearts.

Angus’ mum, Elizabeth, said: “There are so many people to thank who have been there over the last two years to offer help and encouragement. To raise this amount so far is a truly wonderful achievement only made possible with the love and support from all around us. It has made some of the dark times and places less black.

“We have taken part in the London Bikeathon the past two years. It is wonderful to see some of the young people who were in hospital with Angus taking part after completing their treatment and being fit and well enough to cycle in this great event. We have always cycled as a family so this is the event for us to continue to help raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and awareness of the work they do.”

Cyclists can choose from a 26, 52 or 100 mile challenge.

Matt Lawley, Head of Sports Events at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, says: “We are constantly inspired by the stories of those fundraising for us and the dedication of our supporters like Team Angus. This year’s London Bikeathon looks set to be as successful as last year’s in raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to help beat blood cancer. Every penny raised for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research will help us in our mission – stopping people from dying and making patients’ lives better.”

Last year, thousands of cyclists took part raising £830,000 to help beat blood cancer. To support Team Angus please visit www.justgiving.com/bikeathon2014forAngus
