Southern Electric slammed for bailiff action

Bailiffs who broke into a Storrington flat, changed the locks and had the electricity cut off without checking the occupancy left a partially disabled woman distraught.

They had been chasing a bill for unpaid electricty of 106.16 left by a previous resident and left the new tenant stranded without access to the flat.

Carolyn Fell (33) who is a Guide leader in Storrington, was delighted when she was allocated the ground floor flat in Ravenscroft, Storrington by Saxon Weald housing association and had been happily getting the flat ready to move in.

Her parents Bob and Pauline Fell of Ashington had been decorating the flat for her and new carpets had just been laid throughout ready for her to move in.
