I HAVE just stumbled upon Jeannie Knight’s well written article of 10 June 2010 about sign clutter on a six mile section of the A283. I live in Japan but come home every August.
I am always struck by the sheer amount of signage and its often insensitive and careless installation and unnecessary size.
I am curious to know if there has been any improvement, both as a result of this West Sussex Gazette article, and Ministry pronouncements nationwide this time last year. What I am hoping to see after arriving at Heathrow is a clean, clear, pleasant urban and rural environment, all ready to welcome the world to next year’s Olympics.
Will I be thrilled or disappointed (again...)?
