‘In your shoes’ week, which takes place from November 4-8, will see the school work alongside JustDifferent ‑ a charity aiming to promote positive understanding about disability and difference.

The workshops will be led by Toby Hewson, founder and CEO of JustDifferent and his colleague Alison Wright. Toby was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy just before his first birthday. He is unable to talk and uses a speech synthesiser to communicate; he also uses a motorised wheelchair to get around.

Alison was born a victim of Thalidomide - a prescription drug used to treat mothers during pregnancy. Alison won silver medals in the 1970’s at the paraplegic games in running, high jump and table tennis.

The workshops have been designed for children between the ages of five and 11. They will include real life story-telling, the use of wheelchairs, quizzes, and a question and answer session.

The children of the school’s Amber House have voted JustDifferent as their charity of the year.
