School remembers former Washington pupil who died in collision

James Nicholas, 37, who was a former pupil of Windlesham School in Washington, was driving a vehicle which was involved in a collision on the M26, on Saturday August 23. Mr Nicholas, who was living in London, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paying tribute to Mr Nicholas this week, former deputy head and current Windlesham Association secretary, Richard Martin, said: “James left Windlesham House in 1990 with a great reputation as a games player, chief amongst which was rugby.

“He became well respected by the staff and was extremely popular with his contemporaries. This was borne out by the large numbers from Windlesham who shared in the celebration of his life at last week’s funeral, both from amongst his peers and from the staff of his era, including one of his former heads.”

In recent years James had been a loyal supporter of the Windlesham Association, regularly attending reunions.

Mr Martin continued: “Windlesham House and the Association are greatly saddened to have lost such a wonderful alumnus at so young an age.”
