STREET party applications for VE Day celebrations will be fast-tracked by Adur District Council.
To encourage communities to come together to mark the occasion, the council will be waiving the usual £102 fee for road closure applications.

Crowds are expected to gather to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day, when Winston Churchill broadcast his historic speech formally announcing the end of the Second World War.
Neil Hopkins, head of communications, said: “Adur and Worthing councils are poised to help the street parties and celebrations which are expected to take place throughout the area this May, as crowds will gather to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE Day.
“VE day, short for Victory in Europe day, signifies the conclusion of Hitler’s war, as well as the courage, endurance and sheer determination shown by those across the world. May 8 was the start of national celebrations across that weekend.
“Many communities will have members who recall the relief felt across the country as Hitler’s demise was sealed, when Britain finally had time to breathe a sigh of relief and figure out how to start rebuilding.
“This is why, with the help of local councils, communities are encouraged to come together to commemorate such an historic event.”
Schools are encouraged to get involved by lighting beacons and joining the national two minutes’ silence at 3pm on May 8, to mark the moment of Churchill’s speech.
Major Tom Wye, president of the Worthing branch of Combined Ex-Servicemen Association, said: “It is fitting that this service of commemoration will take place on the day of the election count, a reminder that those who made the ultimate sacrifice allowed us to live in a democratic society.”
