River death man named

A MAN who died in the River Rother near Petworth on Saturday (April 21) has been named today as 29-year old Nick Crosswell, of June Lane, Midhurst.

At around 6.45pm on Saturday police went to the river following a report of a man having fallen into the river.

Sussex Police say Mr Crosswell had fallen from his kayak while travelling along the river with a friend, and died.

A postmortem has taken place and the cause of death has been established as drowning.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and an inquest has been formally opened and adjourned.
