HELP build a river beast that aims to stretch right across Adur Ferry Bridge in Shoreham for the launch of the 2014 Adur Art Trail.

Over the Moon will be leading the event on Coronation Green, Shoreham, on Friday and Saturday, from 10am to 5pm.

Chris Howitt, secretary of art trail organiser adurArtcollective, said: “Members of the public, young and old can help build a beast that will stretch the full length of Adur Ferry Bridge.

“Make a bit of beast at home, school, or your community group out of any safe, weatherproof materials and bring it along to tie on to the beast, or create a bit of beast on Coronation Green from the materials there.”

The trail will run from Saturday, May 31, to Sunday, June 15, with 25 venues opening their doors.

A whole range of artwork will be on display and artists will be available to talk about their work at many of the trail exhibitions.

Mrs Howitt added: “Venues all across Adur district will be opening their doors to the public to showcase a huge variety of artworks from more than 80 artists.

“The venues in this year’s trail vary from churches and cafés to houses, halls and houseboats.”

St Mary’s Hall, in East Street, Shoreham, will again be the setting for the Centerpiece exhibition, featuring work by 16 artists in a variety of forms.

Entry to all the venues is free and many serve refreshments.

Mrs Howitt added: “Adur Art Trail is a wonderful opportunity to get out and about, meet local artists, talk about their work with them and buy something special.

“You can find out more details by looking in the Adur Art Trail guide, which has a wonderful image of the Adur Ferry Bridge on the cover.

“The guide is being delivered to every house in Adur district, and you will find it in libraries and many other places around.”
