Record numbers treated at Worthing Hospital

A RECORD number of patients were able to receive treatment at Worthing and Southlands Hospitals over the Christmas holiday period thanks to the introduction of special contingency plans developed by the hospital trust.

Since the end of November around 100 more patients have received treatment each week and the trust was able to open 79 extra beds.

Chief executive, Stephen Cass explained: "Patient safety is our priority so before Christmas we put considerable effort in working up a plan which ensured that every extra patient received the care they need in the most appropriate environment."
