Four pubs and two breweries in the area were new additions to the Campaign for Real Ale Good Beer Guide 2015, released this week.

The Wandering Goose, in Worthing, Shoreham’s Piston Broke, the Norfolk Arms in Steyning and Angmering’s Spotted Cow all made the grade, while Littlehampton and Lancing brewers Lister’s and Naked Beer were heralded among the best brewers.

For Tom Eaves, owner of Piston Broke, in High Street, the recognition comes just 11 months after opening.

“We’re absolutely delighted,” he said.

“We have a nice selection of ales, kept well and sold at competitive prices. It’s as simple as that.

Business has been going better than expected, ahead of our projections and CAMRA members seem to be pleased with us.”

Another new pub, which has received rave reviews in its first year of opening, is the Wandering Goose, in Marine Parade.

The seafront pub is the only town centre establishment in the guide and is praised by the guide as giving the impression it has been a ‘fixture for years’.

Owner Nathan Wright, former landlord of the Geese in Brighton, said he was ‘honoured and chuffed’ to make the guide.
