Browns Lane Pre-School held a party with live entertainment and a teddy bears’ picnic to celebrate 20 years of being managed by Maria Meldrum.
Maria told the County Times that it had been a ‘brilliant’ celebration.
“It was really nice,” she said. “It had to include the children, because that’s what it’s all about. It was lovely.”
As well as the teddy bears’ picnic, party food, and a birthday cake, they had a magic Malteser tree and a visit from Chris North, a performer from Freedom Through Fun, who entertained the children with music, puppets and magic.
“He’s a brilliant entertainer - he was very very good,” said Maria.
In the 20 years since Maria took over, Browns Lane has gone from being a simple playgroup to being a fully-fledged pre-school, running eight sessions a week to prepare children aged two to five for primary school.
The facility was rated ‘outstanding’ in a recent Ofsted report.
