Warnham Tory chairman concern over North Horsham plans

The North Horsham Parish Council (NHPC) meeting will be held at North Heath Hall in St Mark’s Lane, and will include a chance for people to have their say on Monday September 9 at 7.30pm.

In a letter to the County Times Andrew Briant, who lives in Bognor Road, expressed his concern at a lack of consultation, the suitability of the site, and strain on current infrastructure.

Horsham District Council is currently consulting on its draft housing plan, which includes provision for 2,500 homes and a new business park north of the A264.

Mr Briant said: “My key concerns are: The lack of consultation. Is August a good time to propose this and with such a short window to review. There also appears to be a lot of missing information re: traffic flow assessment, impact assessments on schools and the like.

“This site is really not suitable when there are already a number of potential existing sites especially around Southwater.

“Finally general consideration as to the large amount of development already under way – Billingshurst, Broadbridge Heath and so on and has there been any real thought given to the lack of capacity at schools, hospitals, roads and space/sporting facilities. My son attends Warnham and the class sizes are already very high with us getting Horsham overflow as their schools are at capacity.”

NHPC will discuss its response to the consultation, and will include a public forum where speakers will be limited to three minutes.

Under Fire Regulations, capacity at North Heath Hall is limited to 240 people, and anyone above that number will be turned away.
