Geoff Salter held nine days of examination hearings in November to test Horsham District Council’s planning framework and published his initial findings just before Christmas.

He told HDC to up its housing target from 13,000 to 15,000 homes up to 2031. The council then revised its plan in March and held a six week consultation on the modifications.

The planning framework includes the controversial proposals for 2,500 homes and a business park north of the A264, and saw former HDC chief executive Martin Pearson speak against the scheme, saying it would ‘forever change the character of Horsham’.

The resumed examination will start on Friday July 3 at 9.30am and is expected to last between one and two days at Parkside in Chart Way, Horsham.

Topics listed for discussion are:

- Review of evidence relating to housing and employment need

- Revised housing trajectory and how the proposed additional 2,000 homes will be provided

- Proposed allocation for the former Horsham Novartis site

- Other proposed housing allocations including south of Billingshurst, west of Southwater and North of Horsham

- Proposed deletion of reference to a possible new settlement.
