He was instrumental in getting coach bays at the North Street bus terminus and spearheaded a campaign to make Midhurst free of plastic bags, giving free ‘bags for life’ to residents long before the Government initiative.

Cllr Morley has been the town council representative for the Pendean Sand Quarry review and the previous and current Midhurst Vision projects.

Carol Lintott, chairman of Midhurst Town Council, said: “Steve has worked tirelessly for Midhurst in freely giving his time as a town councillor, working on many projects since joining the council in 2007 and in particular his persistency with the enduring issues of all things highways, from parking issues and pinch points in the town, to getting the air quality on Rumbolds Hill monitored, Steve has campaigned to the relevant authorities for an overarching plan to ease congestion through the town using various measures and this work continues.

“He and his experience will be very much missed.”
