POLICE have named a man who died in a car crash on the A280 Long Furlong last Tuesday (August 25).
Robert Holland, 20, of Meadow Sweet Close, Durrington, died at the scene when his blue Ford Fiesta collided with a silver Vauxhall Vectra just after 6.30pm near Findon.
The 34-year-old driver of the Vauxhall was taken to Worthing Hospital for treatment for bruising, whiplash and shock. The road was closed for around five hours on August 25 while rescue, recovery and investigative work took place.
Mr Holland was member of the Worthing and District Harriers.
The group posted a tribute on its website.
“It is with great sadness to pass on the news that our friend Robert Holland was involved in a fatal car crash on Tuesday evening,” it read.
“Bob has trained in the sprint group for the past three years, and always set the benchmark with his dedication to training. Our prayers and condolences are with his family and friends, rest in peace Bob your smile and laughter will be greatly missed.”
Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the collision or who may have seen either vehicle in the area in the time leading up to it to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 101 quoting Operation Dovedale.
