Poem of the week Wind through the trees

LEAF shivering

leaf whispering

leaf stealing

wind through the trees

heralds autumn’s alchemy

transforming summer leaves to golden yellow, mellow crimson,

orange-red and fading brown

before decreasing sunlight drifts beyond the equinox.

Lead rustling

leaf chattering

leaf scrunching

playful eddies hide the grass

or scurry down the lane

until they moulder under foot-

their annual phoenix-fire display

extinguished by autumnal rain

and wind through the trees silently

awaits the springtime buds to leaf again.
