Shoreham Beach church raises hundreds in memory of two popular members

An outdoor art exhibition on the vicarage fence was held in memory of two highly-respected and popular members of the Shoreham Beach congregation.

Featuring art and creativity from members of the Church of the Good Shepherd community, the On the Fence art exhibition raised money for the RNLI in memory of Chris Petty and St Barnabas House hospice in memory of Ted Young.

The fundraising team organised the event, with social distancing measures in place.

George Hickman, one of the organisers, said: “Wow! What a fantastic weekend we had, a truly amazing and outstanding amount of £619 was raised.

“I’m truly jumping for joy, especially as £310 has been sent to the St Barnabas hospice and also to the RNLI.

“I’m so proud of all the unstinting work everyone expended over the weekend and thanks to all the artists who made the exhibition what it was, a brilliant success.

“It was also a lovely opportunity for people to see each other, even at a distance.”
