Louie Humphrey, who has been streaming games during the lockdown, set himself the modest target of raising £100, but achieved this in just 15 minutes. “The money just kept going up,” said the 20-year-old, who lives with his girlfriend, Jodi Till, in Faulkner Gardens, Wick.

“I told viewers if I got to £500 I would shave my head, which I did! I then said if I get to £1,000 I would dye my hair purple!”

Louie is donating the funds to Clymping Dog Sanctuary and said he received an email from JustGiving telling him he was in the top ten per cent of fundraisers over the last month.

“I am over the moon,” he said, adding: “I know a few people who have dogs from there and they are really nice people. They also just run on donations and I know they have been struggling due to the pandemic.”

Louie said he and Jodi will be visiting the dog sanctuary to meet the team in the next couple of weeks.
