Admission charges to be reintroduced at Warnham Nature Reserve

Entry to the reserve has been free during the past year but now Horsham District Council is to start charging again.

Fees had applied before the pandemic struck.

The council says that fees and permit monies go towards the upkeep and safe running of the reserve.

In a statement, the council said: “Following discussion between the Friends of Warnham Local Nature Reserve and Horsham District we had intended to introduce new entry fees in April 2020, however as events overtook and we were not able to facilitate this.

“With the hides due to re-open from Monday May 17 we are now in a position where we intend to re-introduce charging.”

The new charges will be made per adult, rather than per household, with children under 18 free.

An adult day permit will cost £3 and an adult annual permit for the first person in a household will cost £18 with all other adults of the household charged £9.

Annual permits will be available to buy from 9am on Saturday May 15 and Sunday 16 May at the Visitor Centre café hatch.
