A number of coaches and professionals came in to deliver the sessions to students, supported by members of staff and student Sports Leaders.

Rowan and Kate in Year 7 commented: “We are really enjoying the day. We’ve tried out golf and skateboarding so far this morning and had never done either of these sports before – both of us would like to take part in these sports again in the future, especially the skateboarding.”

Jules White, Headteacher, said: “Tanbridge House School worked on a number of initiatives in the run up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games to encourage our students to develop their interest in sport and staying fit and active.

We have continued to build on this since the games took place last year, and this day has been a fantastic way to introduce students to a whole host of new sports and other physical activities. Feedback has been extremely positive from all involved – it’s has been a fantastic day.”

Building Lifelong Participation Day took place as part of a programme of activities which have been made possible thanks to Horsham District Council and Sport England.

The school received a grant of £9,000 earlier in the year to help them to continue to inspire students in and around sport.
