With anti-bullying week soon to be upon us, our Year 7’s were tasked with putting together an anti-bullying campaign.

With all sorts of media technology at their disposal, students were able to use their creativity whilst focussing on a key issue for the whole community at Glebelands.

This activity was followed by team building sessions on the field and in the Sports Hall with games like Gutter Ball designed to help our new cohort build new friendships.

Meanwhile, Year 8 students had a complete cultural experience.

Students learnt the meaning behind intricate Indian Bollywood dance moves, took some time to relax learning yoga and created some aboriginal art.

They also built a shanty town extending through several classrooms. The students thoroughly enjoyed their day, applying themselves fully to all these new experiences and learning about different cultures.

In Year 9, students had a fantastic day at Chessington World of Adventures.

Students learnt about media and publicity and took part in a workshop about how the advertising campaign was created for one of Chessington’s biggest rides.

They then experienced the range of thrills on offer at the theme park and considered how a new campaign could be created.

Our Year 10’s had a real treat, visiting Warner Bros Studios to learn about how the Harry Potter movies were made.

This ‘magical’ experience is a testament to the very best of British design and ingenuity and the hope is that it will inspire some of our students into the realm of set design and motion capture as future careers.

With many of our students at the age where they will be driving soon, all Year 11’s took part in the Road Safety Awareness day run by Safer Surrey Partnership involving a mock incident using a donated car.

Our students experienced a variety of workshops designed to make them think about their own safety and the safety of others when they begin to use the roads.

Glebelands School would like to thank the Fire and Rescue Service, the Police, St Johns Ambulance Service and all team involved in delivering this powerful and emotional experience.
