New outdoor classroom unveiled at Roffey school

On Wednesday, July 10, after celebrating a fantastic morning of sports, pupils, staff and parents officially unveiled the new outdoor classroom at Northolmes Junior School in Roffey.

Thanks to a donation from Roffey Fun Club, the hard work of the schools PTA raising money via various quiz nights, discos and this year’s very successful Summer Fayre, the children will now be able to make more use of the school grounds during lessons.

Headteacher Miss Ashby commented: “It’s a great addition to our school, giving us an outside, usable teaching space all year round, with enough room for a whole class at a time.

“The pupils are already really enjoying using the outside classroom for various lessons especially ones themed around the ‘eco’ parts of the curriculum”

NSA Chair Judith Fitter said: “The PTA have worked very hard this year to raise money for various outdoor spaces around the school with new playground benches installed, signs for the playground and flower beds planted with the new outdoor classroom the icing on the cake.

“Next year we will continue to help complete the landscaping around the new outdoor classroom with paving, paths and greenery.”
