First reported as a Pipe & Drum Band, it regularly took its place at the head of various parades, including the General Election Parades held in bygone days, and appearances throughout the years in the local area.

From the nineteenth century onwards, it evolved in to a concert band, adding such instruments as Clarinets, Saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets, etc., to become the band you regularly see in Horsham, and surrounding Counties,as: The Sussex Band of The Royal British Legion (Horsham).

Although concentrating on concert events the band is regularly called upon to supply military-style marching formation, including St. George’s Day, Remembrance Sunday, various Carnivals and, for the first time in 2011, the Battle of Britain Parade.

The band consists of musicians from all walks of life and ability, who meet every Tuesday evening (8-10pm) in the Edwin Hall, and welcome musicians of all ages, especially the younger generation who would like to broaden their horizons.
