Make yourself glam for Oxfam

Oxfam was founded in 1942 as the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief to get food aid through to the people of Greece who were starving under Nazi occupation.

Now Oxfam International works in over 90 countries including helping food banks in the UK.

Oxfam shops, including the one in the Carfax, Horsham, are a major part of our fundraising and also great places for Christmas shopping from Fair Trade food and gifts to discovering something in our wide range of donated stock that’s just the right thing.

To take part in Oxglam Day you’ll just need to check with your boss that it’s OK. You could take part as a team, a department - or the whole company. Share your photos and donate on the day to fight poverty in style.

To show off our range of party wear, the Saturday volunteer team the Horsham shop dressed up in outfits chosen from Oxfam and braved the cold outside the shop.

Last month, the Horsham shop got a new look: “Oxfam decided we needed a clearer message on the front of our shops,” said Sally Williams the Horsham shop manager.

“We don’t have to live with poverty and we can all do something to help each other - by volunteering or by wearing something glamorous to work on the 10th. We will be wearing tiaras in the shop.”
