LETTER: Youth Awards were wonderfully inspirational

I first wanted to congratulate all involved in the production of a wonderfully inspirational evening at the County Times Youth Awards 2015 on Tuesday evening.

More than once I had a tear in my eye... wonderful.

I was there, as Chairman of Horsham Tigers FC to support our Under 13 team, and Darron Mitchell the manager who won the first award of the evening (the Community Team award) .

I thought your readers may be interested in just a little more detail.

Since the sad death of Darron’s daughter four years ago, his team have led the club’s fundraising for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, and over the years have raised a significant sum.

Our sponsored bike ride this year was only last Sunday, see our twitter feed on our website - http://www.horshamtigersfc.co.uk/pages/u8s.html

Horsham Tigers’ ethos is very inclusive and recognition for our teams’ sportsmanship is always appreciated and very important to us.

In the past football season three of our teams won the Sportsmanship trophy in their respective age groups in the Horsham District Youth League (sportsmanship marks are given by opposing managers each match and reported to the Horsham District Youth League, who then tally up the scores at the end of the season to find the winner in each age group).

I believe that not only was The Horsham Tigers Under 13 score the highest in the age group it was the highest among ALL the age groups , so the top scoring team out of the hundreds of teams that compete in the League each week.

A great achievement that we are proud of.

As a club we are always looking for new players and at the younger age groups (years 1, 2, 3 and 5) we are happy to welcome new players to our free training sessions throughout the season.

Take a look at our website http://www.horshamtigersfc.co.uk/pages/u8s.html

Anyway enough of the advertising.

Once again many thanks for a great and inspirational evening.
